He is being raised by his widower father and has basically been taking care of himself. Also, check out the manga, it's still going and is much farther than the anime series. In the first arc we are introduced to our main character Taira Capeta. If you haven't started watching them, there are new episodes of Ippo coming out right now. I really hope they continue this series past where it has ended right now and take it all the way to F1. I like that it still has a realistic ending to the race (there's only one and it takes up most of the episodes).Ĭapeta is about karting(eventually a lower end version of F1) but it's also very much like Initial D. It's about bike riding and has a lot more romance in it, but the same themes in Ippo are there. I have no idea why subbing was stopped at 14 before, I don't think it was licensed.įor Ippo, try Overdrive. It was only subbed to 14 for a long time and just recently got subbed to 21, still have 3 or 5 episodes to go. I like Initial D more but WM is still very good. Wangan Midnight is done by the same people that did Initial D though there's less "training" in WM and it's more about the mechanical part and the machine/body connection. It doesn't have to be sports, but I prefer realistic animes (It's ok if it goes overboard a bit, but real is a HUGE plus for me!) I am looking for animes like Initial D and Hajime no ippo, with fierce competition, and training. ![]()
